 The Course is divided into five modules each with two or more sessions

Module 1:
Planning for Export Success

✔ Define your reasons (business goals) for developing an export market and what success looks like
✔ Understand what you should know about your market before you start exporting

Module 2:
Understanding legislation, roles, and responsibilities

✔ Understand the roles and responsibilities of the government in approving Australian seafood exports
✔ Understand the role and responsibilities that you and your employees have in making sure that you comply with the relevant legislation, rules and standards
✔ Confirm that your product can be exported from Australia

Module 3:
Becoming a registered exporter responsibilities

✔ Understand what Approved Arrangements are and what you need to do to develop one
✔ Check that you have covered the requirements for an Approved Arrangement before you get audited
✔ Discover the process and the documentation you need to become a registered exporter

Module 4:
Are you ready to be audited to obtain export registration?

✔ Understand what is involved in an audit, how to prepare for an audit and what to do afterwards
✔ Discover what auditors are looking for and what the common errors are

Module 5:
Generating export permits and documentation
 

✔ Know the various export documentation you require for exporting your seafood products
✔ Understand how to generate export documentation through the Exdoc system

Each session is organised in the same way: 

  • An audio-visual presentation that includes the video transcript for easy reference  
  • We have provided downloadable documents  that include, cheat sheets, worksheets, templates, and checklists that you can complete and save Together they will be important components of your export plan.  
  • Interviews with our exporters and other useful videos – they contain many tips and tricks that will save you time and money as you implement the things you learn. 
  • Links to other resources relevant to the module topic 
  • Some sessions have quizzes to help check that you know what you need to know.

Jayne Gallagher
Chief Executive Officer, Founder

 

Jayne is the CEO and market development strategist for Honey & Fox. For the last 30 years she has been in and around the Australian seafood industry mainly focusing on market and trade development services – working with Ted Loveday at Seafood Services Australia and then with the Australian Seafood Cooperative Research Centre where she worked with fishers and fishing businesses to identify and open new markets. In addition to running her own business working with individual fishers to identify and grow profitable markets for their products, she is also the General Manager of the Seafood Trade Advisory Group (STAG) and a member of the Seafood Export Consultative Committee.

Dr Joanne Freeman
Research, Training and Engagement Director 

 

Dr Joanne Freeman is in her element looking for patterns and insights from data to help our clients find the best markets for their products. She has a particular passion for helping small businesses turn market insights into real practical actions.  She likes nothing better than getting on boats and talking with our fishers giving her significant insight into commercial fishing industry. Joanne has extensive experience in digital training, marketing, project management, industry engagement and not to forget market research. She has held senior roles in government and industry associations along with spending several years as an academic (we call her our pracademic!!).

Helen is a company founder and leads our Creative Services and Communications team. Qualified in user experience and design she loves helping our clients connect with their markets by bringing their authentic provenance stories to life in creative and compelling ways, that are accessible and easy for customers. Helen’s experience includes working with Agri and food businesses on effective digital communications, brands and promotions in international and domestic markets, developing markets through creative communications. She brings her passions for nature, art and food into her work.
